OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2026 MONDAY: ATTRACTING GOD’S HELP III
OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2026
MEMORISE: "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up". James 4:10
OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2026
READ: PSALM 10:17-18
17 Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 KINGS 24-25
OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2026 MESSAGE:
Today, I will conclude the teaching I started two days ago by discussing humility as another way of attracting God’s help. Today’s Bible reading makes us understand that God listens to the desires of the humble and delivers them from every form of oppression. This means that if you want God to arise for your help in any area of your life, you must be in a state of total surrender to Him. Romans 12:1 says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service”. When you present your body as a living sacrifice to God, it means that you have surrendered completely to Him, and He now has total control over your life.
In 2 Kings 5:11-12, Naaman was about to lose his miracle because of pride. He felt that a man of his social and financial status should be treated in a special way. If not for the fact that his servants advised him to obey the prophet of the Lord by dipping himself in River Jordan seven times, he probably would have died as a leper.
Child of God, whenever you come before your heavenly Father, do not consider whatever wealth or achievements you might have. Rather, you should always approach the Almighty God in total surrender so you can receive His help. I have walked with God for some decades now, and one of the things I can say about Him is that He hates pride. In fact, He said in James 4:6 that He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. This tells us that God is always quick to help the humble. David’s humility made him enjoy God’s help countless times in his lifetime. He never argued with God; rather, he saw himself as a mere work of creation before Him (Psalm 8:4). As a result, God continued to help him until he died at a good old age, full of riches and honour (1 Chronicles 29:28).
Beloved, if you want God to arise for your help, you must surrender your life totally to Him. You must acknowledge Him as the Owner and Controller of your life, and when you go before Him in prayers, you must totally disregard your social or financial status. With utmost humility in your heart, make your requests known to God, and I can assure you that He will arise and help you, even beyond your wildest imagination.
OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2026 KEY POINT:
Pride is a major hindrance to attracting God’s help.
OPEN HEAVEN 27 APRIL 2026 HYMN 30:
WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey

OPEN HEAVEN 25 APRIL 2026 MEMORISE: "But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying." Psalm 70:5
OPEN HEAVEN 25 APRIL 2026 READ: 2 KINGS 6:1-7
1 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
OPEN HEAVEN 25 APRIL 2026 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 KINGS 19-21
OPEN HEAVEN 25 APRIL 2026 MESSAGE:
It is very important for children of God to know the things they can do to attract God’s help. The Bible is filled with several accounts of how people attracted God’s help, and over the next few days, l will be discussing some of these accounts and things you can do to attract divine help.
In today’s Bible reading, the sons of the prophets were felling wood by River Jordan when the axe head of the axe that one of them was using fell into the river. The man cried to the man of God for help, and God stepped in to remedy the situation. God helps those who cry to Him for help.
In Psalm 3:4, David said, “I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.” Also, in Mark 10:46-52, Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus, and despite attempts by some people around him to shut him up, he refused to be silenced. As a result of his persistent cries for help, Jesus had mercy on him, and he received his sight.
Sometimes, when I see people praying nonchalantly, I wonder if they really want God’s help. If you really want to receive help from the only One who can truly come to your aid, you must shun pride and approach Him humbly for help. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
I remember when I just joined The Redeemed Christian Church of God. During a service, somebody on the altar said, “Praise the Lord,” and the fellow who was sitting beside me shouted ‘Hallelujah’ so loudly that I almost ran out of the church.
Beloved, don’t let anything prevent you from being fervent in the things of God. When it is time to praise Him, dance with all the strength within you. Also, when it is time to pray, let your focus be on Him alone. When you are in the presence of your Maker, nothing else should matter. Believe me, God is still in the business of performing miracles as He did in the days of old. If you humbly cry out to Him in prayers, He will indeed arise to help you.
OPEN HEAVEN 25 APRIL 2026 ACTION POINT:
Call on God fervently today, and ask Him to come to your aid in all areas where you need His help.

Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.
4 Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heav’n but Thee?

Promises From God
Leviticus 26:6
And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
Psalm 91:11
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
What can I do when I am overcome with fear? How do I find the strength to go on?
Psalm 46:1-2
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. [2] Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
God promises to comfort us in our fear if we seek him when we are afraid. We have the confident assurance that he is with us in any circumstance.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Remind yourself that God is always with you. Your situation may be genuinely threatening, but God has not abandoned you, and he promises to stay with you. Even if your situation is so bad that it causes death, God has not left you but has instead ushered you into his very presence.
Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Remind yourself that no enemy or adversity can take away your most important blessings—the forgiveness God gave you for your sins, your relationship with him, and your eternal salvation. These remain secure even when your world falls apart.
Revelation 22:5
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Remind yourself that as a Christian, your destiny is victory! Present hardships and heartaches are temporary. You can go forward with the confidence that you are on the winning side.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Pray with a thankful heart, asking God to give you what you need to deal with your fear. Peace is not the absence of fear but the conquest of fear. Peace is not running away but overcoming.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Fear presents an opportunity for you to develop greater faith as you call upon the power of God to help you.
Genesis 26:7
And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
Joshua 17:16
And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth–shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
Fear must not keep you from doing the things you know are right. You are not meant to live in fear.
What does it mean to fear God?
Job 13:11
Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
Psalm 33:8
Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Psalm 128:1
Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Fearing God is not the same as being afraid of God. Being afraid of someone drives you away from that person. Fearing God means being awed by his power and goodness. This draws you closer to him and to the blessings he gives. Fear of God like the respect you have for a beloved teacher, coach, parent or mentor who motivates you to do your best and avoid doing anything that would offend them or provoke their displeasure. You fear God because of his awesome power; you love God for the way he blesses you with it. And this brings great joy.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
A healthy fear of God motivates you to strive for holiness.
When is fear not good?
Hebrews 10:31
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Fear is terrifying if we have to fall into the hands of God without having made peace with him.
Fear is not good if it keeps us from doing the things we ought to do. We are not meant to live in fear.
Numbers 13:28-31
Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. [29] The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan. [30] And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. [31] But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Fear is not good when we allow it to distort our view of our great God who is greater than any problem we face.
When is fear good?
Psalm 2:11
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Because God is so great and mighty, and because he holds the power of life and death in his hands, we must have a healthy, reverent fear of him. A healthy fear helps us keep our perspective about where we need to be in our relationship with God.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
A healthy fear of God motivates us to strive for holiness.
Deuteronomy 31:7-8
And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it. [8] And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Fear can be good if it teaches us about courage. Joshua couldn’t have truly understood courage if he hadn’t experienced fear. Fear gave him courageous character and taught him to rely on and trust in God.
