In spite of welding the Nigerian regions together in 1914, it may be argued that the British Government never lived under the illusion that a country having such a vast land mass and consisting of ethnic nationalities with disparate backgrounds, languages and cultures could live under a centralized government for long. It was thus that the then Governor of colonial Nigeria, Sir Arthur Richards, broached somewhat obliquely the issue of federalism before the proclamation of the Richards Constitution of 1946: “To create a political system … within which the diverse elements, may progress at varying speeds, amicably and smoothly, towards a more closely integrated economic, social and political unity, without sacrificing the principles and ideals in their divergent ways of life.”

How to Dehydrate Fruits & Vegetables

As suburban, rural, and even city dwellers develop an increased interest in edible gardening, drying food has become an ever more popular method of preserving one’s homegrown harvest.

Drying foods is one of the oldest food preservation methods. Before refrigeration, those who lived in cold climates could store foods outdoors or underground to preserve them. This was not the case for those who lived in more temperate climates. Native Americans and early American settlers commonly dried foods such as corn, apples, and grapes. Drying food made it lighter, smaller, and more portable.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 (KJV)

The best thing that can happen to any human being on the face of this earth is to be born again. And the next best thing that can happen to you after you are born again is that you renew your mind. It is important that we remind ourselves of this truth early in this New Year.

What does it mean to renew your mind? To renew your mind is to submit your mind to the Word to be transformed. The Word of God is the most potent agent of transformation. Don’t copy the behavior of the world. Be developed into a new person by changing the way you think. Put on the mind of Christ. That is what will put you above every challenge. See things in the light of how Christ will see them. That is why the Word of God is given to you.

According to the scriptures: “Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: For they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: For thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients because I keep thy precepts.” Psalm 119:98-100 (KJV).

The Word makes you wiser! The Word is a revelation of God’s Wisdom that has no margin for error. It is the Word that transforms you! It is the Word that saves your soul. When you read the Word, it will change you and your thought pattern.

Child of God, stop feeding your thoughts with the wrong things. You cannot expect the wrong thoughts to produce good results. Positive and negative thoughts cannot co-exist. You cannot serve God and mammon. Stop feeding your mind with the wrong things. Stop looking at the wrong things. The things you feed upon have a way of impacting your life. When any negative thought comes, cast it down. Don’t accept it! Learn to guard your heart with all diligence. Give no room to negative thoughts.
