Reactions As Buhari Confers GCFR On Tinubu And Hands Over Transition Documents To The Incoming Govt

President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The GCFR which is the highest National Honour in Nigeria, and reserved for only Presidents, was conferred on Tinubu at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on Thursday, as part of the activities lined up for the May 29th inauguration. With this title, Tinubu will now be addressed as Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR). The Vice Presidential-elect, Kashim Shettima, was also conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON).

According to the report by Channels Television, Buhari also officially handed over Transition Documents to the incoming administration, a process which some people claim will be the most organized Presidential Transition in Nigeria's history, which was enabled by Executive Order 14 signed by President Buhari.

A few days ago, the Chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, Boss Mustapha, had disclosed that Tinubu's swearing-in and inauguration will take place at Eagle Square by 10.00 am on May 29th, and that adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of everyone that will attend the event.

From the look of things, everything is getting set for Tinubu to take over as the next President of Nigeria on May 29th.

The investiture of the National Honours on Tinubu and Shettima has been trailed by mixed reactions from members of the public, with some people saying that they hope Tinubu's administration will usher in a positive turning point for Nigeria.
